The 17th China International Machine Tool Exhibition (CIMT2021), hosted by the China Machine Tool Industry Association, was held in Beijing from April 12 to 17. Centered around the theme of "Integration for Win-Win: Smart Manufacturing for the Future," CIMT2021 will feature a variety of concurrent events. Below is a brief introduction to some of these events:
1. International Forum for CEOs of Machine Tool Manufacturers
The “International Forum for CEOs of Machine Tool Manufacturers” is one of the key supporting events organized by the China Machine Tool Industry Association. It is held the day before the opening of each edition of CIMT (China International Machine Tool Exhibition) and CCMT (China CNC Machine Tool Exhibition). Affected by the pandemic, the CCMT 2020 exhibition was forced to be canceled. However, in June 2020, the China Machine Tool Industry Association hosted an online CEO forum, which also garnered widespread attention and achieved excellent results.
The “2021 International CEO Forum for Machine Tool Manufacturing” is scheduled to be held on April 11, 2021—just one day before the exhibition opens—at the Crowne Plaza Airport Hotel in Beijing. This year’s CEO Forum will bring together industry experts and senior executives from both domestic and international companies. The forum’s theme is “Innovation, Talent, and Transformation & Upgrading.”
Innovation is the core task for the sustainable development of enterprises. Whether it’s technological, process-related, or managerial innovation, all these forms of innovation will help companies enhance their core competitiveness. Talents are the key element for enterprise innovation and improvement. Only by attracting, nurturing, and making the most of talented individuals can enterprises better realize their innovative ideas, thereby driving corporate transformation and upgrading and contributing to the overall advancement of the industry.
This forum will focus on the aforementioned theme and plans to invite CEOs from well-known machine tool and equipment companies both at home and abroad to share their insightful experiences, practical approaches, and remarkable achievements in innovation, talent development, and enterprise upgrading—from various perspectives—so that industry stakeholders can learn from and draw upon these insights. The forum will bring together approximately 100 senior executives and technical leaders from the global machine tool and equipment industry, as well as representatives from user sectors, experts and scholars, and media representatives.

In addition, participants will visit the CIMT2021 exhibition and attend special exhibitions showcasing breakthrough achievements in CNC machine tools, providing an opportunity to examine the latest developments in the domestic and international CNC machine tool industry.

3. NC-Link Application Demonstration
At this year’s CIMT exhibition, the “NC-Link Application Showcase” area will be set up in Hall E1, divided into three zones: an NC-Link introduction zone, a zone showcasing NC-Link technology and equipment, and a networking and discussion zone. Several machine tool and related companies—including those specializing in machine tool mainframes, CNC systems, production-line software, robots, and connected terminals (adapters)—will join forces to exhibit their practical experiences and impressive results in the interconnection and interoperability of CNC machine tools. Visitors will have the opportunity to see how equipment from different manufacturers is connected and applied, enabling remote monitoring, remote maintenance, and process optimization of networked devices. They’ll also get a chance to gain hands-on experience with these networked devices to some extent.
4. Special Achievement Showcase for CNC Machine Tools
Entrusted by the First Division of Equipment Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the China Machine Tool Industry Association will hold the 11th “Special Achievement Exhibition on CNC Machine Tools” concurrently with CIMT2021. The exhibition area will be located in the corridor on the east side of the exhibition center. This special exhibition will primarily use text and images to promote and showcase the technological breakthroughs and scientific research achievements made by China’s machine tool industry since the launch of the special program, as well as the successful applications of these research results in key user sectors. It will also serve as a platform for specialized products to enter the market and accelerate the industrialization of domestically produced high-end CNC machine tools.

5. Recognition for Advanced Members (Top Ten)
The annual “Advanced Member (Top Ten)” Awards Ceremony, hosted by the China Machine Tool Industry Association, has been held continuously for 20 years since its inaugural event in 2001. This awards ceremony has played a vital role in promoting technological advancement and enhancing product quality within the industry by recognizing outstanding enterprises and setting exemplary models. After adjustments, the “Advanced Member (Top Ten)” Awards Ceremony now features four categories: Top Ten in Independent Innovation, Top Ten in Product Quality, Top Ten in Comprehensive Economic Benefits, and Top Ten in Product Exports. The Top Ten in Comprehensive Economic Benefits and the Top Ten in Product Exports are determined based on calculations derived from the annual reports of member companies. On April 12, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., the day the exhibition opens, the “China Machine Tool Industry Advanced Members (Top Ten)” Awards Ceremony will be held in the South Lobby of the Exhibition Center, where award medals and certificates of honor will be presented to the winning enterprises.
6. Symposium on International Business Operations
As Chinese machine tool and equipment enterprises expand into overseas markets, they have increasingly deeper and more urgent needs to develop multinational business strategies, accelerate their transformation and upgrading, and enhance their brand influence. To meet these needs, the China Machine Tool Industry Association has, over the past decade, regularly organized symposiums focused on international business topics, providing a platform for enterprises to access international market information and exchange operational experiences. Over the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted normal trade activities: enterprises have been unable to participate in overseas exhibitions or visit customers in person. At the same time, uncertainties in logistics and transportation, as well as increased trade risks, have risen to varying degrees. As a result, many export-oriented enterprises are now pondering how to maintain both the vitality and security of their foreign trade operations.
At the end of last year, the ten ASEAN countries signed the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement with China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand, aiming to expand free trade through tariff reductions. What impact will the signing of this agreement have on our industry’s exports and overseas operations? To address this question, the “International Business Symposium” held during CIMT2021 will invite leaders from government regulatory agencies* and experts from various fields to discuss how companies in our industry can explore new channels and strategic approaches for expanding their overseas operations and seizing market opportunities in the context of the evolving international environment and political landscape.
